BlackBook
The Contact Manager for Independent Professionals
Most CRM’s are sales team oriented. But BlackBook is made to track everything you know about People, Projects, Organizations, and your interaction with them. It has Google Calendar access built in and full two way sync with Google Contacts – so calendar & contact data automatically flows to your phone.
Individuals need better CRM / contact management. The same patterns emerge again and again: Where is that phone number? When did I call them last, and what did I say? Where is the resume Bob sent me 3 months ago? What was the password for that customer’s server and how many hours did I work on that? I could swear I wrote it down…
To solve this problem we’re writing a contact manager for professionals who need to keep track of things. Track anything you want, about everyone you know. Ingest files and pictures and attach them to contacts, and create history notes, projects, and even committees.
Step 1:
Import all contacts from Google Contacts with a few clicks.
Step 2:
Create any additional contacts you like. If desired, add information like: where do they work, what are their kids names, hobbies, their birthday, etc. All the stuff you wish you could remember without a personal CRM, but can’t. Create “Tags” to group contacts who are related in some way (blog readers, family, colleagues, etc). All contacts can have multiple tags.
Now you have a personal CRM that syncs all changes back into Google Contacts on the fly, which updates your phone or tablet instantly with all changes. Use it to keep a history of who you interact with, when, and how.
Coming in Version 2: Collaboration Features!
You’ll be able to use BlackBook with a team by creating a project. Project team members (multiple independent people running BlackBook who have been invited to the project) share all project contacts, details, and status updates (and get updates by email too, if desired).
I want to share contacts with my team / my family / my boss. But only some of them!
Here’s how we want to build the best contact sharing there is.
- You create “Tags” that can be applied to any contact. For example, “dev team” or “family”.
- Choose the fields to be shared under a tag. Maybe just name, email, work phone for “dev team” plus home address & cell phone for “family”.
- Invite someone to “subscribe” to your tag feed. Think Twitter.
- If they accept, they get the contacts with that tag.
- For as long as they are subscribed (you can end it, or them) they get all updates to that information.
- You can now flow the right contact info to the right people, automatically.
Let us know what you think! Drop us a quick note on the contact form and tell us if you think this is great, terrible, or if you have a feature request. We will start posting them for voting as soon as possible.
The software is not ready for release, but we hope to be staging it for beta within 30 days.
